It is a wonderful, friendly, historic inn on an historic campus. Good food, excellent location when traveling, in a photogenic area. Wonderful shopping in small galleries and the Log House.

    Fabulous

We were on the third floor, so our room was very quiet and peaceful. No outside noise or noise from other occupants. The room was immaculate. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds my husband and I have slept on. Wish I had the mattress at home!! I would definately stay at the Boone Tavern again when in the Berea area.

Our restaurant visit for breakfast was not as good. The staff was very slow, by husband had a dirty coffee cup (which he found after he had drank the coffee) and the portions were very small.

After checking in and reading the monthly calendar at the front desk and in the room...attempted to make reservations for the Thanksgiving Brunch, but was told no reservation was needed. We arrived downstairs at 11:30 and was told all dining was booked. The dining check in person was unyeilding but after speaking with the Tavern manager we were seated immediately. We were very pleased with the meal but the front desk staff should have been better informed. Also the price we booked online was not the price we paid.

    Fabulous

Beautiful and inviting space: bright, colorful, well-maintained - really just a lovely place and with wonderful staff: everyone friendly and helpful. Loved having the live piano music in the lobby in the evening. Of course it's location so central to the beautiful campus and the wonderful crafts shops is also delightful, and the restaurant served us splendid meals with good choices.

Main complaint is being unable to get the temperature in our room down to a decently comfortable sleeping feel. Our room was hot, and nothing I could do with the thermostat ever worked to change that. I hate hot rooms, especially for sleeping! Thank goodness for the ceiling fan! Also pillows are an issue for me (see Mature Couple). Your fat pillows are very unfriendly for necks, and my hubby and I had to fight for the one flat pillow (which actually wasn't supposed to be a sleeping pillow, i.e., blue cover).

    Very good

Historic element and location in the center of things. Bathroom was nice and shower good. Room was quite small but understandable due to age of building.

The heating/cooling in room was not acceptable. It was hot to start with and the thermostat would not go below 74. I called the desk and someone came up to verify. The had to call someone to change the setting. It took anout an hour to do that and they set it too cold. Again there was only 2 degrees of control in the room and it was not in a comfortable range. Another call and visit from the front desk changed it to closer. By this time it was after midnight so we gave up. The room was small but nicely done, bath is nice.

    Fabulous

the feeling of being in an old hotel I liked all the young students working there ,and the feeling that we were giving them financial suport by sdtaying in Boone Tavern

After travelling for8-9 houirs toget there,we needed a glass of wine with our dinner, ice tea does not quite make the grade!

    Superb

A beautiful "classic" hotel right down to the key boxes and real keys. The ambiance and location of the hotel were great and the room was spacious and filled with hand crafted furniture.

We were in a corner room on what must have been the busiest intersection of town. Unfortunately, it was extremely noisy all night with traffic noise and trains--not the fault of the hotel, but requesting an interior room would be better.

    Historic nature

Telephone and clock in room were too complicated to operate. Dining room should serve wine.

    Superb

The physical plant is beautiful and luxurious-feeling. The staff was friendly and helpful. The town and the university concept were intriguing.

The booking was not as user-friendly as I would have hoped. I booked what I thought was a double room with 2 beds, but ended up in a double room with only one bed. I would never have chosen to have just the one bed, so the reservation went astray at some point. So I would hope for greater clarity on the reservation end for my next visit.

    Not much, very disappointed. Cleanliness

Too pricey, menu needs more items, terrible bread, the bathroom has only one bar of soap. Overall, very disappointing. Will not come back, will not recommend.

    Exceptional

It's just a lovely place. It was interesting to learn the history of the hotel. The room was large, clean, and quiet. The first floor was elegant and the staff very friendly. The town had some very nice shops and cafe type restaurants that were very good. And the mountains as a backdrop make it more special.

Running water in the sink was slow; more of a spray, and no exhaust in the bathroom.

No prior notice that county and hotel were dry. Check in included a mini- lecture on religious philosophy we found offensive.

    Very good

It was ok...nice place and all,,, room too small for the money..so small you had to go outside if you wanted to change your mind.... I have had better values for the dollars spent.. I was quoted on the phone two different prices for the same room then booked online and an even lower price.. After finally getting a room and booking it I felt like I was being run through a money machine and the heck with the client. We have had the experience.. it was not bad but could have been better,, the value received was not up to the hype of the Inn. We stayed there because it was a special time for my wife and I ,(out 45th wedding annerversary) , it was special but not outstanding. The prior evening we stayed at Shaker Village although somewhat expensive for our budget we were not disappointed because it was different experience, a retreat and not a resort or a hotel. We will return there next summer again.

I can't say we dislike anything but the hype overshadowed the value received. I would not recomend this place if they were looking for a place with room to relax.. I would recomend for a short stay only.

The hotel staff graciously gave us accuate information on the location and menu for local restaurants. We had a problem with the mechanism on our door and it was repaired quickly and efficiently. Everything was spotless!
